Sexual medicine is a medical specialty that deals with sexual health. At times heavily influenced by current local views on morality, with heavy cultural overlay, in broad terms this specialty is concerned with diagnosing, assessing and treating all aspects which relate to sexuality.

Issues can be divided into two main areas of concern:

Sexual medicine has four dimensions:

  • The promotional dimension (increases awareness and helps individuals have a healthy and fulfilling sex life)
  • The preventive dimension (counseling)
  • The curative dimension (clinical treatment of specific sexual disorders)
  • The rehabilitative dimension (helps patients regain sexual health)

Gynecology and Obstetrics

Gynecology and obstetrics are twin subjects that deal with the female reproductive system. While obstetrics deals with pregnancy and its associated procedures and complications, gynaecology involves treating women who are not pregnant.

The field of obstetrics thus deals with the wellbeing of the pregnant mother as well as the delivery and healthy outcome.

Obstetricians closely work with the paediatricians and neonatologists to deal with care of the newborn baby to reduce the chances of mortality and disease of the newborn.

Functions of an Obstetrician

Gynecologists and obstetricians both deal with the wellbeing of females and obstetricians especially deal with pregnant mothers. The procedures and functions that they perform include:-

  • Normal delivery and performing essential assisting steps. Obstetricians are responsible for working in collaboration with their staff to monitor and assist normal delivery in a woman during labour.
  • Their functions include facilitating delivery by performing episiotomy that involves placing strategic cuts over the perineum of the pregnant mother to enlarge the birth canal.
  • Sometimes prolonged labour might require assistance to speed up the process in order to reduce maternal fatigue and fetal distress (rising heart rate and possible brain damage to the baby). This uses techniques like forceps delivery and vacuum assisted delivery.
  • Caesarean (or C) section that requires surgical removal of the baby from the mother’s womb to reduce the complications that arise during labour. These complications in turn may cause death or damage to the newborn unless delivery is expedited with C section.
  • Diagnosis and treatment of ectopic pregnancy. Ectopic pregnancy occurs when the fertilized ovum gets implanted in any place other than the womb. Commonly it gets implanted in the fallopian tubes.

At Qari Hospital experienced and qualified gynaecologist and Obstetrician is serving the area for the last 3 decades with excellent out come in cases.

Today, laparoscopic surgery is a universally accepted surgical technique that uses small incisions and long pencil-like instruments to perform operations with special gadgets. As the incisions are much smaller than open, so recovery is faster and post-operative pain is typically less. Procedures such as organ removal (Lap.choli.etc) are now preferably performed by laproscopic way.  Hernia repairs, bowel resection, gastric bypass routinely carried out laparoscopically, with ease.

Laparoscopic surgery has successfully replaced open surgery as the preferred treatment option for different issues such as bariatric surgery and >gallbladder removal. Laproscopic surgery is a better option due to minimally invasive, less stay in the hospital and quick recovery. At Qari Hospital we are unique to do the diagnostic and therapeutic laproscopic procedures to treat infertility.

Endoscopy

Patients who suffer from recurring sinusitis and other sinus problems may have structural issues that prevent them from getting relief from medical treatment. Through endoscopic sinus surgery, specially trained doctors can remove blockages such as nasal polyps that trap bacteria and cause pain and infection. Endoscopic sinus surgery has been very helpful for chronic sinusitis; sufferers feel better and enjoy a normal life again.

At Qari Hospital we are performing the laproscopic and Indoscopic procedures in a routine with success and at affordable cost.

This procedure is a minimally invasive surgical procedure for viewing the inside of the uterus. Hysteroscopy is performed by inserting a visualizing scope through the vagina and into the cervical opening. Hysteroscopy allows visualization of the inside of the uterus, including the openings to the Fallopian tubes, as well as direct examination of the cervix, cervical canal, and vagina.

Why is hysteroscopy done?

Hysteroscopy can be performed for both diagnosis or also for treatment (therapeutic). Hysteroscopy is one of several procedures that your doctor may recommend to

Evaluate or treat abnormalities of the uterus or cervix. Since hysteroscopy examines the lining and interior of the uterus, it is not suitable for evaluating problems within the muscular wall or on the outer surface of the uterus.

Hysteroscopy may be recommended as one step in the evaluation of a number of gynecological problems, including:

  • It is being used for determination of causes of infertility with in scope of this procedure.
  • Congenital (inborn) anatomical abnormalities of the female genital tract
  • Scarring, or adhesions, from previous uterine surgery or instrumentation such as dilation and curettage ( D&C)
  • Polyps or fibroid tumors inside the cervical canal or inside the uterine cavity
  • Retained placenta or products of conception after a birth or miscarriage
  • Abnormal vaginal bleeding

Hysteroscopy can also be used to help pinpoint the location of abnormalities in the uterine lining for sampling and biopsy. Hysteroscopy can also be used to perform surgical sterilization.

Dietitians and nutritionists are experts in the use of food and nutrition to promote health and manage disease. They advise people on what to eat in order to lead a healthy lifestyle or achieve a specific health-related goal.

Duties of Dietitians and Nutritionists

Dietitians and nutritionists typically do the following:

  • Assess patients’ and clients’ nutritional and health needs
  • Counsel patients on nutrition issues and healthy eating habits
  • Develop meal and nutrition plans, taking both clients’ preferences and budgets into account
  • Evaluate the effects of meal plans and change the plans as needed
  • Promote better health by speaking to groups about diet, nutrition, and the relationship between good eating habits and preventing or managing specific diseases
  • Create educational materials about healthy food choices
  • Keep up with or contribute to the latest food and nutritional science research
  • Document patients’ progress
  • Dietitians and nutritionists evaluate the health of their clients. Based on their findings, dietitians and nutritionists advise clients on which foods to eat—and which to avoid—to improve their health.
  • Many dietitians and nutritionists provide customized information for specific individuals. For example, a dietitian or nutritionist might teach a client with diabetes how to plan meals to balance the client’s blood sugar. Others work with groups of people who have similar needs. For example, a dietitian or nutritionist might plan a diet with healthy fat and limited sugar to help clients who are at risk for heart disease. They may work with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
  • Clinical dietitians and clinical nutritionistsprovide medical nutrition therapy. They work in hospitals, long-term care facilities, clinics, private practice, and other institutions. They create customized nutritional programs based on the health needs of patients or residents and counsel patients on how to improve their health through nutrition. Clinical dietitians and clinical nutritionists may further specialize, such as by working only with patients with specific conditions such as kidney disease, diabetes, or digestive disorders.

  • Cardiology is the medical specialty dealing with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the heart. Cardiologists are specialists in diseases of the heart. The biggest area of heart disease treated is coronary artery disease e.g. angina. Also treated are abnormal heart rhythms, heart failure, high blood pressure and some rarer conditions. Cardiologists usually treat heart disease with drugs. Some of them are also able to provide treatment for coronary heart disease with coronary angioplasty (a procedure by which the arteries of the heart are widened). If heart surgery is required, a cardiologist will refer you on to see a cardiothoracic surgeon who would perform the surgery.Cardiothoracic Surgeons from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham hold regular clinics at Hereford County Hospital; however, you will be given a choice of where to go for surgery.Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart as well as some parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease and electrophysiology. Physicians who specialize in this field of medicine are called cardiologists, a specialty of internal medicine.Echocardiography:Echocardiography uses standard two-dimensional, three-dimensional, and Doppler ultrasound to create images of the heart. Echocardiography has become routinely used in the diagnosis, management, and follow-up of patients with any suspected or known heart diseases. It is one of the most widely used diagnostic tests in cardiology. It can provide a wealth of helpful information, including the size and shape of the heart (internal chamber size quantification), pumping capacity, and the location and extent of any tissue damage. An echocardiogram can also give physicians other estimates of heart function, such as a calculation of the cardiac output, ejection fraction, and diastolic function (how well the heart relaxes). Echocardiography can help detect cardiomyopathies, such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, dilated cardiomyopathy, and many others. The use of stress echocardiography may also help determine whether any chest pain or associated symptoms are related to heart disease. The biggest advantage to echocardiography is that it is not invasive (does not involve breaking the skin or entering body cavities) and has no known risks or side effects.

X-ray imaging is based on the fact that tissue will absorb photons from an X-ray beam in relation to the electron density of the tissue. This means that bones absorb more photons than lean tissue does. The number of photons passing through the body of interest will then be detected either by film or now by image detectors that convert the body’s direct attenuation of the photons into digital images. The resulting images are a two-dimensional projection of a three-dimensional structure.

A CT scan, also called computed tomography or just CT, combine a series of x-ray views taken from many different angles to produce cross- sectional images of the bones and soft tissues inside your body.

A CT scan is particularly well suited to quickly examine people who may have internal injuries from car accidents or other types of trauma. A Ct scan can also visualize the brain and with the help of injected contrast material, can check for blockage or other problems in your blood vessels.

At Qari Hospital state of the art CT scan is operated services are being provided 7/24. The report of the CT scan image is being furnished by qualified and experienced radiologist with the film to help the consultant for quick diagnostic.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound examination, also called sonography or diagnostic medical sonography, is an imaging method that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce precise images of structures within your body. The images produced during an ultrasound examination often provide information that is valuable in diagnosing and treating a variety of diseases and conditions.

Most ultrasound examinations are done using a sonar device outside of your body, though some ultrasound examinations involve placing a device inside your body. Despite its valuable uses, ultrasound cannot provide images of all areas of your body—but there are several other imaging alternatives.

You may need to undergo an ultrasound for a variety of reasons. Ultrasound may be used, among other things, to:

  • Evaluate the fetus/ and its growth-placemental position etc.
  •  Evaluate the uterus/ovaries and development of ova in the management of infertility.
  • Diagnose gallbladder disease.
  • Evaluate flow in blood vessels.
  • Guide a needle biopsy.
  • Guide the biopsy and treatment of a tumor.
  • Check your thyroid gland.
  • Study your heart.
  • Diagnose some forms of infection.
  • Diagnose some forms of cancer.
  • Reveal abnormalities in the scrotum and prostate.
  • Evaluate abnormalities of the muscles and tendons.

When scheduling your ultrasound, ask your doctor for specific instructions for your particular exam.

Though the majority of ultrasound exams are performed with a transducer on your skin, some ultrasounds are done inside your body (invasive ultrasounds). For these exams, the transducer is attached to a probe that is inserted into a natural opening in your body. Examples of these exams include:

  • Transvaginal ultrasound: A small, specialized transducer is inserted into a woman’s vagina to view her uterus and ovaries.
  • Transrectal ultrasound: A small, specialized transducer is inserted into a man’s rectum to view his prostate.
  • Transesophageal echocardiogram: The transducer is inserted into your esophagus to obtain images of the nearby heart. Such exams are typically performed along with sedation.

Ultrasound is usually a painless procedure. However, you may experience some mild discomfort as the sonographer guides the transducer over your body, especially if you are required to have a full bladder. A typical ultrasound exam takes from 10 minutes to 15 minutes.

Safety

Diagnostic ultrasound is a safe procedure that uses low-power sound waves. There are no direct risks from a diagnostic ultrasound exam. Rarely, higher power sound waves can be used for treatment purposes to heat and even destroy some types of tissue or tumors.

At Qari hospital we have qualified and experienced sonographer doctors, who perform the procedure on latest equipments.

The standard 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) is one of the most commonly used medical studies in the assessment of cardiovascular disease. It is the most important test for interpretation of the cardiac rhythm, detection of myocardial ischemia and infraction conduction system abnormalities, preexcitation, long QT syndromes, atrial abnormalities, ventricular hypertrophy, pericarditis, and other conditions.

Biomedomics has developed and launched one of the world’s first rapid point-of-care lateral flow immunoassays to aid in the diagnosis of coronavirus infection. The test detects both early marker and late marker, IgM/IgG antibodies in human finger-prick (capillary) or venous whole blood, serum, and plasma samples.

There is a critical, global need for serology assays that can complement nucleic acid (PCR) tests for diagnosing COVID-19 infection.  Although critically important, PCR tests are only positive during the brief window of acute infection, after which they become negative. And while serology tests are not as effective as PCR early in acute infection, they are able to detect COVID-19 antibodies for a prolonged period of time after disease resolution, which enables identification of prior infection. Knowledge of prior infection is epidemiologically important and represents a significant unmet need in the management of the COVID-19 pandemic.

BioMedomics Rapid IgM-IgG Combined Antibody Test for COVID-19 is used to qualitatively detect IgG and IgM antibodies of the novel coronavirus in human serum, plasma or whole blood in vitro.

Precise

  • Works with whole blood, serum, & plasma
  • Tests for both IgM and IgG antibodies
  •  Validated using PCR

Fast

  • 10-15 minutes per test
  • Intuitive visual interpretation
  • No special equipment needed

STEP

  1. 1. Collect blood/serum/plasma sample.
  2. 2. Add blood/serum/plasma sample to sample well.
  3. 3. Place 2-3 drops of buffer in sample well.
  4. 4. Read results after 10 minutes and no more than 15 minutes.

BioMedomics Rapid IgM-IgG Combined Antibody Test for COVID-19 is immunochromatography based. The test card contains (1) colloidal gold-labeled recombinant novel coronavirus antigen and quality control antibody colloidal gold marker, two detection lines (G and M lines) and one quality control line (C) fixed on a nitrocellulose membrane. M is fixed with monoclonal anti-human IgM antibody for detecting the novel coronavirus IgM antibody. G is fixed with monoclonal antihuman IgG antibody for detecting the novel coronavirus IgG antibody.

The quality control antibody is fixed on the C line. When an appropriate amount of test sample is added to the sample well of the test cassette, the sample will move forward along the test card via capillary action. If the sample contains IgM antibody, the antibody will bind to the colloidal gold-labeled novel coronavirus antigen. The antibody/antigen complex will be captured by the anti-human IgM antibody immobilized on the membrane, forming a red M line and indicating a positive result for the IgM antibody. If the sample contains IgG antibodies, the antibody will bind to the colloidal gold-labeled novel coronavirus antigen and the antibody/antigen complex will be captured by the antibody immobilized on the membrane, forming a red G line and indicating a positive result for the IgG antibody. If neither antibody is present, a negative result is displayed.
